Petrol-Diesel Rate Cut: Awaiting Great Relief to Common Man

Petrol and diesel prices (Petrol-Diesel Price Down) Prices remained stable for nearly 24 days after several months of increase, but on Wednesday, for the first time in 2021, the common man breathed a sigh of relief when prices came down. On Wednesday, the price of petrol has been reduced by 18 paise per liter and diesel by 17 paise. This reduction has been made due to the fall in the price of Crude Oil in the global market. Earlier on March 20, 2020, the prices of petrol and diesel were last reduced, so the prices have come down for the first time in a year.

According to oil marketing companies, the price of petrol in Delhi has come down from Rs 91.17 per liter to Rs 90.99 per liter. The price of diesel is now Rs 81.30 per liter in Rajdhani, which was earlier Rs 81.47. There is a difference in the price of petrol and diesel across the country depending on the different rates of VAT and transportation costs in the states. This is the first cut in the prices of these products this year. Prices were last reduced on 16 March 2020.

Petrol increased by Rs 21 in 1 year, diesel by Rs 19

In the last one year, there has been a record increase of Rs 21.58 in petrol and Rs 19.18 per liter in diesel. Last month, in some places in Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, the price of petrol crossed Rs 100 per liter. However, prices had remained stable since the end of February.

Crude oil prices fall

Petrol in Mumbai fell from Rs 97.57 to Rs 97.40 per liter on Wednesday. Whereas diesel was reduced from Rs 88.60 to Rs 88.42. Petrol in Kolkata has been hiked by Rs 91.18 and diesel by Rs 84.18 per liter, petrol in Chennai by Rs 92.95 and diesel by Rs 86.29 per liter. Crude oil prices have fallen by 5-6 per cent since February in the international market. This can provide further relief to consumers in the coming days.
