Annual Fest Melange Turns Out A Hit Among Students

International Women Polytechnic, an institute known for imparting education to women, hosted its annual fest Melange-The Blend of Art 2016 on June 29, 2016, at the Jawaharlal Stadium, New Delhi. The festival included various activities like fashion show, play, and music and dance performances. Many famous dignitaries like Member of Parliament Meenakshi Lekhi, Executive Director Samir Valia, Subroto Mukherjee, and Kunal and Nikhil, the centre directors of IWP, attended the yearly function.

While speaking at the occasion, Meenakshi Lekhi said, “Mélange is a blend of passion and knowledge required to navigate education in the dynamic industry. While the present reality is many talented students do not get enough opportunities to perform their skills, Melange is the platform that gives students access to a network of professionals to work in the industry. It provides an interactive stage where they can find people who can mentor them.”

Apart from the rock show, music and dance acts, the fashion show exhibited the designs and outfits created by the students of the IWP College. It had a glimpse of ethnic, western and indo-western wear. From the fabric, costume sketches, stitching to embroidery, everything was done by the students. The professors and chief guests were impressed by the student’s hard work and dedication.

A few personalities leading in their specific areas mentored the students. This included Deputy Commissioner of Police Varsha Sharma, Former Miss India Winner and Miss World Runner- Up Parvathy Omanakuttan, Fashion Choreographer Liza Varma, Fashion and Lifestyle Consultant Ila Kumar Valia, Miss India Finalist Swareena Singh Sirohi, Actor Lotty Allaire, Miss India Finalist Seitu Kumar Aneja. They shared their experiences and lessons learnt during their struggling phase. Through the meeting, Melange provided the students with an opportunity to connect and explore the current trends in fashion and lifestyle industry.

IWP operates under the Kundan Lal Govind Ram Educational Society Trust which works in building and shaping the women’s confidence and skill to bring them at par with global standards. Since 15 years, the Institute has taken out of the box initiative to impart vocational/professional courses and organised workshops on personality development, security awareness and talent hunt programmes.

Vishal Nijhawan, the managing director of IWP, said, “The need to uplift the status of women in our country has been our prime concern. The institute’s motto has been to deliver quality education to women of all ages and provide relevant information to comprehend and boost their self-esteem. Through Mélange, we are trying to impart a significant value that transforms a woman into a woman of substance, purpose and confidence.”
