Today i.e. August 19, 2021, oil marketing companies have cut diesel prices for the second consecutive day. Even today diesel has become cheaper by 20 paise per liter. On Wednesday also, there was a cut of 20 paise per liter in diesel. However, there has been no change in the prices of petrol. Petrol prices have been stable for almost 33 days. Prior to this, petrol became costlier by 35 paise per liter on July 17. At the same time, diesel last became expensive by 15 paise per liter on July 15. Since then, retail fuel prices were running stable, due to which a reduction in prices was expected.

However, when asked this week on the cut in excise duty on petrol and diesel, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government is not in a position to cut as it is burdened by the oil bonds of the previous government.
