Petrol, Diesel Price: No change in fuel oil prices today.

In the country on Monday i.e. 18 October petrol and diesel prices I have taken a break after four consecutive days of increase. Petrol has become costlier by 35 paise per liter every day for the last four days. So far in October, the prices of petrol and diesel have been increased for almost 14 days and the prices have reached their highest level. Petrol prices have increased 16 times in the last three weeks, while diesel has become costlier 19 times in three weeks. In the international market too, the price of crude is running above Rs 84. The price of petrol in Delhi is above Rs 105 for the first time and Rs 111 for the first time in Mumbai. Barring some state capitals of the country, petrol is being sold beyond 100 in almost every capital. At the same time, diesel is also touching this level. In places like Mumbai, Patna and Bhopal, it is already selling beyond 100.
‘Extortion’
just on sunday An interview given to NDTV Former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said that one-third of the price of petrol that consumers pay is the tax of the central government. Therefore, imposing 33 per cent tax on any item is extortion. He said that if a consumer pays Rs 102 per liter for petrol, then out of this Rs 42 goes to the oil companies. Including the processing of crude oil. 33 rupees goes to the central government and 24 rupees goes to the state governments as tax. Along with this, Rs 4 goes to the dealer. Out of 102 rupees, 33 rupees is about 33 percent. ‘According to me this is extortion.’
