Share Market Today: Sensex made a new record, Nifty also crossed 15,900 for the first time

Records set in the stock market today, Sensex-Nifty touched new heights.

Share Markets Today : Major stock indices Sensex and Nifty reached new highs during early trading on Monday due to rise in big stocks like Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank and HDFC. While the Sensex crossed the 53,100 mark, the Nifty also crossed the 15,900 mark. However, the markets could not maintain this record high and came down in the early hours itself.

At 10.20 am, the Sensex was down by 26.58 points, or 0.050%, and the index was running at a level of 52,898.46. There was a slight decline of 0.55 in Nifty and the index was trading at a level of 15,859.80.

In the opening, the Sensex was trading at 53,067.89, up 142.85 points or 0.27 percent after touching the highest level of 53,126.73. Similarly, Nifty was up 42.25 points or 0.27 per cent at 15,902.60. Nifty touched an all-time high of 15,915.65 in the opening session.

Asian Paints was the biggest gainer of one percent in the Sensex. Apart from this, Dr Reddy’s, NTPC, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries were also trading with gains. On the other hand, Titan, TCS, UltraTech Cement, Bharti Airtel and L&T saw a decline.

In the previous session, the Sensex was up 226.04 points or 0.43 per cent at 52,925.04 and the Nifty was up 69.90 points or 0.44 per cent at 15,860.35.

According to provisional data of the stock market, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 678.84 crore on a gross basis on Friday. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude was trading 0.17 percent lower at $75.25 per barrel.
