Some were going UP-MP, some Bihar; 16 migrant laborers killed in three accidents

The worst casualties of the coronavirus epidemic and lockdown are on migrant laborers. Every few days, there are cases of accidents with migrant laborers in some state of the country. Since the lockdown, the last 24 hours have been the worst for road accidents in the country. During this period, 16 migrant laborers were killed and more than 60 injured in road accidents in three different states (Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh).

Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of deaths in road accidents in the last 24 hours. An uncontrolled truck hit the bus in Cantt PS area in Guna in the state, killing 8 people on the spot and injuring 50 people. The accident occurred between 3 to 4 am on Thursday morning. According to news agency ANI, all the deceased were residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and were going to their homes. The injured are currently admitted to the district hospital.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured Rs 2 lakh for the families of migrant laborers who lost their lives in the accident in Guna, Madhya Pradesh. Also announced a help of 50 thousand rupees for the injured.

The second major incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh. Here late night on the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway, a speeding bus crushed 6 migrant laborers near the Ghouli check post. 5 workers are badly injured in the accident. Saharanpur SSP Abhishek Yadav said that the driver has been arrested, suspected of driving drunk.
