PM Modi to Inaugurates 5G in India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched 5G telecom services at the inaugural function of the India Mobile Congress that ends on October 4.

The purpose of 5G telecommunications services is to provide ultra-high-speed Internet services over smartphones and other networking devices.

Three major telecom giants of India- Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea also attended the 5G launch event

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), he is scheduled to launch 5G services at 10 am on Saturday at an event organized at Pragati Maidan in the national capital.

Earlier, Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had also said that PM Modi's vision is to build 5G parallel to global standards and lead the world in 6G technology.

The cumulative economic impact of 5G on India is projected to reach USD 450 billion by 2035.

Recently, the auction of 5G spectrum was successfully conducted and the telecom service providers were allotted 51,236 MHz with a gross revenue of ₹1,50,173 crore.

Apart from the 5G launch, PM Modi will also inaugurate the 6th edition of India Mobile Congress 2022 (IMC-2022), which will be held from October 1-4 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

C-DOT is also developing a 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) in collaboration with local industry and startups. It has successfully tested 4G core in collaboration with TCS and Tejas Network.
