Market Live: Stock market’s strong start, Nifty cross 10100, Sensex rises by 532 points

Today, the stock market opened strongly for the sixth consecutive trading day. The Bombay Stock Exchange’s 30-share sensitive index Sensex opened with a gain of 359 points at 34185 today, while the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also started the day trading with a green mark. In early trade itself, the Sensex has seen a jump of 532 points, while the Nifty has gained 164.40 (1.65%) points to reach 10,143.50.

Talking about the Nifty top gainer, the stocks of Britannia, Bajaj Finance Service, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank are showing a boom. Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, Airtel are at a loss.

Indigo lost Rs 871 crore in fourth quarter

The country’s largest airline IndiGo reported a net loss of Rs 870.81 crore in the fourth quarter of the last financial year ended March 31 due to a ban on flights due to Kovid-19. The company has incurred a loss of Rs 233.68 crore during the entire financial year 2019-20 due to losses in the last quarter. The airline’s total revenue declined by 16.41 percent to Rs 8,634.62 crore from a year earlier, while the total cost increased by 1.54 percent to Rs 9,9243.93 crore. Because of this the company suffered. However, due to the ban on flights, its cost of aircraft fuel fell from Rs 3,341.94 crore to Rs 2,860.36 crore.

Britannia’s fourth quarter net profit of Rs 372 crore

FMCG company Britannia Industries’ consolidated net profit for the fourth (January-March) quarter of the previous financial year 2019-20 increased by 26.53 per cent to Rs 372.35 crore. This earned the company a net profit of Rs 294.27 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year. In a communication sent to the stock exchanges, the company said that its total operating income rose to Rs 2,867.70 crore during the quarter from Rs 2,798.96 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal.
