New Delhi. On the direct tax collection front, the Modi government has reversed the history of 21 years. Earlier it used to be that the share of companies in direct tax collection was more, but this is the first time in 21 years, when the share of common people has increased as compared to the companies. The total direct tax collection in the financial year 2020-21 has been Rs 9.45 lakh crore.
In this, the corporate tax collection has been Rs 4.57 lakh crore, while the personal income tax collection has been 4.69 lakh crore and other tax is 16,927 crore. If we look at the data of history, it has been seen that the share of corporate in tax has been high. The total direct tax collection in the financial year 2000-01 was Rs 68,305 crore. In 2014, when the Modi government took over, the corporate tax was Rs 4.28 lakh crore, while the income tax was only Rs 2.65 lakh crore.
