After Jharkhand, Zomato will now deliver home liquor in this state

After Jomato Jharkhand, a company providing online information about restaurants and a platform for booking food, now home delivery of liquor (alcohol) will be done in Odisha. Zomato is going to start with its capital Bhubaneswar. Jomato said in a statement that after starting from Bhubaneswar, the company will deliver liquor to households in other cities of Odisha like Rourkela, Baleshwar, Sambalpur and Cuttack. Earlier, Jometo and Swiggy had announced to start delivery of liquor to households from Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi from 21 May.

Company working closely with Excise Department

Zomato Vice President Rakesh Ranjan said, “We are happy to serve people in Odisha. They can now use the Jomato platform for wine and groceries, apart from our grocery and food items. He said that the company is working closely with the Excise Department to ensure adherence to safety instructions. Along with this, consumption and identity verification system is also being prepared so that only the eligible person can order and consume it.

Ranjan expressed his gratitude to the Odisha government and the retail liquor industry for their cooperation in starting the alcohol delivery service safe and following the guidelines. According to the statement, Zomato has formulated several safeguards for safe delivery of alcohol. With the verification of the age of the person concerned at the time of order, arrangements have been made to check it at the time of supply.

This is how wine will be found

The order holder has to upload a valid identity card ‘to give information about his identity and age. It will be verified later while supplying alcohol. Along with this, a provision has also been made for the product range so that only the eligible person can order it correctly.
