Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday launched an entirely new IRCTC website with the Rail Connect app. Speaking on the occasion, Goyal said that the railway is committed to serving the nation and is continuously working to enhance its services to further improve the experience of rail travel. He said that it has been upgraded for booking railway tickets online. The e-ticketing platform will enhance passenger amenities. He said that IRCTC should continue to work on improving the website continuously and ensure that this website is the first in the world according to the Digital India Mission and the Prime Minister’s vision.
All facilities included
This next generation e-ticketing system was launched in 2014. The aim is to make the ticket booking service through IRCTC hassle free and easy. Railways aims to provide more facilities to railway passengers by upgrading this website and app. The design of this new world class website for booking railway tickets has been designed keeping in mind the customers of Railways. It has for the first time integrated the facility of food, ticket booking, retiring room and hotel booking with user login. In this way, an effort has been made to provide all the travel related facilities to the passengers at one place.
Use of AI
Arrangements will be made to provide all kinds of information to the passengers as they enter the station through artificial intelligence. This will help them avoid pre-travel hassles and book tickets. Through the website and app, passengers will also be able to get all the information about ticket refund in their login account. Earlier this facility was not there. Tickets can be booked for regular and favorite travel by giving all the necessary information. The process of information and selection of the train has been simplified and facilitated.
This is a new beginning
The fares of trains and categories available in them are given on a single page. Custom train and class tickets can be booked by scrolling the page. Earlier this facility was not there and every train had to take its information separately. A ‘cache system’ has been launched with the website, through which information about confirmation of weight list tickets will be given. This will not delay in providing information about the confirmation of the waitlist tickets. Earlier this facility was not there. The availability of the reserved tickets on the webpage on other days will come automatically.
