Share Market Today: Slowdown seen in stock markets after flat opening, IT shares increased

Flat opening was seen in the stock market today.

Stock Market Updates : BSE Sensex had set a record in Wednesday’s closing and today the market is witnessing lethargy. A flat opening was seen in the market on Thursday amid mixed global cues. IT stocks are seeing a rise on the day of weekly expiry. Amidst the negative trend of Asian stock markets, the BSE index opened 3.34 points or 0.01 percent higher at 53,058.10, while the Nifty was down 8.95 points or 0.06 percent at 15,870.70.

In the opening, about 1379 shares rose and 553 shares fell.

The biggest gain of two percent in the Sensex was in Bajaj Auto. Apart from this, Tech Mahindra, NTPC, IndusInd Bank, PowerGrid, M&M and HCL Tech were also among the gainers. On the other hand, UltraTech Cement, HUL, Sun Pharma and Nestle India were in the red.

There was a declining trend in Asian markets today. Japan’s Nikkei fell 0.55 percent. The Strait Times fell 0.37 percent and the Hong Seng fell 1.54 percent.

In the previous session, the Sensex was up 193.58 points or 0.37 per cent at 53,054.76 and the Nifty was up 61.40 points or 0.39 per cent at 15,879.65. According to provisional data of the stock market, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 532.94 crore on a gross basis on Wednesday. Meanwhile, international oil benchmark Brent crude was up 0.01 per cent at $73.44 per barrel.
