42 companies selected under PLI scheme, 44 thousand people will get employment

New Delhi:

Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, 42 companies have been selected for manufacturing of household electronic goods (AC and LED). Of these, 26 companies will invest Rs 3898 crore for air conditioner components, while 16 companies will invest Rs 716 crore for LED component manufacturing. The government will get a total investment of about Rs 4,614 crore. At the same time, about 44 thousand people will get employment. It is believed that more than 81 thousand crores will be produced by the companies.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has notified the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. On 7 April 2021, the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Modi approved the proposal of DPIIT’s PLI scheme for manufacturing of white goods and sub-assemblies of AC and LED lights. The scheme is to be implemented over a period of seven years from FY 2021-22 to FY 2028-29 and has a total budget of Rs 6,238 crore. The scheme was notified by DPIIT on 16 April 2021.
